Fall Field Day - Georgia Tech
Our most recent field day was held on the campus of Georgia Tech.  Special thanks to Specialty Turf Supply and Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation for sponsoring this event and for offering equipment demonstrations.  We began the day by hearing from Tom Burns (former Texas Rangers groundskeeper, now with Diamond Pro) about proper mound, home plate, and infield maintenance and repair.  Host Jon Dewitt was able to give us a tour of Grant Field and the storage areas at the stadium before lunch.  We enjoyed a taco bar catered by Moe's, before resuming our tour of the baseball, practice football, and basketball facilities; as well as, gaining insight into Jon's turf and field use management plan.  Special recognition to a large group of about 30 students from ABAC who also made the trip for this field day.  A great time was had by all.  Please make plans to attend the Urban Ag Council's EDGE Expo on December 5-6th, 2012 at the Gwinnett Center
